from €20.00

A 90x60 cm canvas shimmers in metallic pink acrylic, its surface bearing the ghostly textures of earlier, covered attempts and the occasional glint of silver leaf that peeks like memory through lacquered skin; across it, sprayed in a darker pink, the phrase "Vulnerability can be beautiful" arcs like both declaration and question, the word vulnerability quietly holding the word ability within it. This piece was born during a season of working with a deeply vulnerable sector of society while I, too, lived precariously—socially exposed and politically unsettled—and that double exposure taught me how rich vulnerability is as material for art and life. The painting is a hopeful manifesto: to allow oneself to be seen, to be held, to be capable of opening and reopening in relationships that cradle that openness with pure love. It reminds you not to let the pressures of life calcify you into a rock but to seek, again and again, the pathways that soften you so more love and more life can flow in.
